Local soldiers mobilize for overseas mission | News

Throughout New York State, 1,800 soldiers assigned to the 27^th Brigade Combat Team will mobilize Saturday and Sunday for service in support of security operations in Kuwait as well as other Army duties.

Area soldiers from Glenville, Leeds and Gloversville will mobilize. They will train for deployment during post-mobilization training in Camp Shelby, Miss. and members of the brigade are expected to go to Kuwait in April.

The soldiers expect to be on federal active duty for up to 12 months but some soldiers may be released sooner if the Army makes further changes to their mission requirements in Kuwait.
