Police: 3 killed in central NY traffic accident | News
PHELPS, N.Y. (AP) - Police have identified three people killed when a motorist turned into the path of another car in central New York.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Department tells local media that 65-year-old George Halbfinger and 66-year-old Mary Halbfinger of Schenectady died along with 55-year-old Judy Young of Phelps.
They say George Halbfinger was turning from a side road onto County Road 6 when the oncoming car hit the driver side of his car at about 10 a.m. Monday. The accident happened in the town of Phelps, midway between Syracuse and Rochester near the state Thruway.
The driver of the other car, 45-year-old Michael Anthony Corcoran of Phelps, is hospitalized in critical condition with chest and leg injuries.
