Governors approval rating up, but so is unemployment | News

Governor Cuomo has a lot to smile about these days.
According to a new Quinnipiac poll, 71 percent of registered voters in New York say they approve of the job Cuomo is doing in office. Just 16 percent disapprove.
The 71 percent rating is the Governor's highest in Quinnipiac polling since he was elected and the highest for any governor in 11 years.
This, however, might dampen the governor's mood:
New York’s unemployment rate is once again on the rise.
That's according to state comptroller, Tom Dinapoli.
He says that New York has lost more than 312,000 jobs in the past two years.
However, the state's unemployment rate for April rose to 8.5 percent compared to 8 percent at that time last year.
Eight counties also suffer from double-digit unemployment rates, including Fulton County.
